How to reach Badrinath
Badrinath lies in Chamoli district; the pilgrimage is based at Badrinath town. Most yatris travel up from Haridwar and Rishikesh via the Garhwal hill roads, then continue on foot, pony or helicopter for the final stretch. See Chamoli weather before you plan.
Yatra season
The Char Dham temples open around late April or early May (Akshaya Tritiya) and close near Diwali/Bhai Dooj in October-November. Exact opening and closing dates are announced each year - always confirm the current year's dates and registration rules before travelling.
